Ballet Academy of
Texas’ MUSICAL
THEATRE WORKSHOP
gives an opportunity
to dance, drama, and
voice students to
expand their
training to include
voice technique,
improvisation, dance
(specifically jazz
and tap), make-up,
role-playing, and
auditioning skills.
Both weeks the
students will be
divided into 2
groups by
age/ability and
include students 7
through 18 years of
age.
CLASSES
will begin at 10:00
a.m. and finish at
3:00 p.m., Monday
thru Friday.
Students should
bring a lunch as
they will not be
allowed to leave the
facility to purchase
lunch. Water bottles
are permitted in
classes.
At the end of each
week’s session, the
original musical,
“Alice in OzaWonka”
will be
performed for
family, and friends
at approximately
2:00 p.m. on
Friday.
A typical day during
the workshop would
be:
10:00 - 12:00
Choreography, voice,
and improvisation
12:00 - 12:30 Lunch
12:30 - 1:30 Acting
Lesson (Make-Up,
staging, set design,
Costuming, etc.)
1:30 - 3:00
Rehearsal and/or
Performance
Preparation
Students may enroll
for one week or
two. Please be
specific on your
enrollment form.
COST OF THE
WORKSHOP
is: $200.00 / Per
Week
A discount of 10%
will be applied to
the second member of
a family, 15% for
the third. Payment
should be made with
registration to
confirm a student’s
space in the class.
There is also a
$15.00 enrollment
fee for all new
students.
The STAFF for
the Musical Theatre
Workshop will be:
LAURIE GRANLUND
(Voice and Acting)
Ms. Granlund has
enjoyed a national
professional singing
career. She has
performed as
featured soloist at
events ranging from
“Miss Texas Pageant”
to guest artist with
the Irving Symphony
Orchestra and the
Plano Symphony
Orchestra. Ms.
Granlund’s stage
experience has
included roles in
Casa Manana’s and
the national touring
cast for Dallas
Summer Musical’s
Broadway series.
Laurie brings 25
years private voice
teaching experience
to the academy.
ALLISON D’AUTEUIL
WHITFIELD
(Dance and Acting)
Ms. Whitfield
has been a staff
member of the Ballet
Academy of Texas for
the past nine years,
teaching ballet,
tap, jazz, drill
team, Musical
Theatre, and hip hop
to all age
children. She is a
founding director of
the Academy
Children’s Theatre,
the Musical Theatre
performing company
at the Ballet
Academy of Texas.
Prior to moving to
Dallas, she directed
the Dance Program at
the Sonshine Academy
in Arkansas. She has
also choreographed
various musicals,
including “Godspell”
for Vista Ridge
Methodist Church in
Lewisville. She has
a degree in
Psychology and
Sociology from
Hendrix College and
a masters from
Perkins, at SMU.
Both Ms. GRANLUND
and Ms WHITFIELD
direct the ACT,
(Academy Children’s
Theatre) during the
school year at the
Ballet Academy of
Texas, where they
have produced
numerous musicals
including “Seussical
Jr” in May, 2010.
The BALLET
ACADEMY OF TEXAS
is located in the
heart of Coppell
near the corner of
Sandy Lake Rd. and
Denton Tap Rd . It
offers four large
studios with sprung
wood flooring and
non-slip marley
surfaces suitable to
all forms of dance.
Dressing rooms and
waiting area
complete the 11,000
sq. ft. facility.
